Alongside their work as performers, Javier Ara Sauco and Enrique López Flores began their journey as creators in 2021 under the name Recuerdo número 7.
Recuerdo número 7 was born from its creators’ desire to merge their individual concerns and artistic visions. The collective focuses on choreographic creation across multiple formats, including performance, installation, transdisciplinary art projects, and educational activities.
Since the premiere of their first piece in 2021, “Me parece que sufro lo que en mi profesión llaman nostalgia”, presented at the final gala of the Dance Award of the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, where they received both the SAT Award and the Audience Award, they have been developing a choreographic practice rooted in embodied research and an ongoing dialogue with other artistic disciplines. In 2022, “Me parece que sufro lo que en mi profesión llaman nostalgia” received First Prize and the Audience Award at the Tetuán District Choreographic Competition in Madrid. The work was later expanded into a full-length version and premiered at the SAT! Teatre de Barcelona. In addition to their own productions, they have led various creative laboratories with companies such as LAB180 in Madrid and have been invited to teach workshops at the Biennale Danza College. In 2024, they were selected as choreographers for the Biennale Danza College programme under the direction of Wayne McGregor. Over the course of three months, they shared a creative process with sixteen young dancers from around the world, presenting the final outcome as part of the 18th edition of the prestigious Venice Dance Festival. Also in 2024, they received the Audience Award at the international choreographic competition LINKAGE in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. In 2026, they created FAL, a commission for the Gradient Contemporary Ballet Debrecen, under the direction of Edit Domoszlai, as part of the “Mind the Body” program.
